US brands Greek group a terrorist organization

WASHINGTON — The US has put a Greek group on a terrorist blacklist and banned Americans from doing business with the group.
The Sect of Revolutionaries has claimed responsibility for killing a police officer and a journalist since the group emerged following 2008 riots that broke out after police fatally shot a teenager. The group also was behind attacks on police and TV station.
The terrorist designation by US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton blocks the group's assets in the United States and prohibits Americans from conducting transactions with the group.
A US statement said the group's "indiscriminate terrorist activities threaten the national security of the United States."
