The Obama administration is investigating suspicions that Iran supplied the former Libyan government of Muammar Gaddafi with hundreds of special artillery shells for chemical weapons, US officials said, according to The Washington Post Sunday night.

"The highly toxic arsenal, which Libya kept secret for decades, was uncovered in recent weeks by rebel fighters at two sites in central Libya and has prompted a US intelligence-led probe into how the Libyans obtained them," The Washington Post reported.
