US's Panetta: Strike on Iran could hurt world economy

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta warned on the eve of talks with Defence Minister Ehud Barak that a strike on Iran could harm the world economy, saying the US focus was on diplomatic pressure and sanctions.
"There are going to be economic consequences to that (an Iran strike), that could impact not just on our economy but the world economy," Panetta told reporters traveling with him on Thursday to Canada, where he will attend a security forum and hold bilateral talks with Barak.
