Villagers flee forest fires in Lebanon

A forest fire, which has raged for the past week in Lebanon, threatened to engulf homes in the village of Fatri, AFP reported.
Residents fled the village as President Michel Suleiman reportedly travelled to the ara, 30 miles north of Beirut, to inspect firefighting efforts.
The blaze has reportedly destroyed 1.6 million square feet of woodland, including trees over a century old, olive groves, and pine trees.
