Revolutionary Guard Chief of Staff Mohammed Ali Jafari apparently slapped Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad after being angry at the president, a US diplomatic cable recently released by WikiLeaks showed.

Ahmedinejad apparently suggested during a meeting a more liberal approach to opposition protests and said that "people feel suffocated." In response, Ali Jafari said "You are wrong, it is you who created this mess," and then allegedly slapped the president in the face, according to a source.

The cable suggested that the slap caused an uproar and the meeting was immediately ended.
