Labour party leader Shelly Yacimovich said on Wednesday Israel must give a cease-fire a chance to succeed.

Following the announcement of a cease-fire, Yacimovich said the coming weeks will be a test for the cease-fire between Israel and Hamas following the escalation of violence since the onslaught of Operation Pillar of Defense.

Yachimovich added that she and her party have "supported the operation that set legitimate targets from its outset; the ceasing of rocket fire on the South, deterrence for Hamas, and dealing a painful blow to Hamas's military capability."

She added the cease-fire proved the importance of coordination with the US, as well as the special role of Egypt.
