The Cypriot secret service foiled a terrorist attack against Israeli interests at the seaport of the country’s second city Limassol, Cypriot daily Alithia reported on Thursday.Cypriot agents discovered 100 grams of explosives they say was meant to target cruise ships carrying Israeli tourists in Cyprus and in other countries.The IDF had no comment on the report.Last month, Israel asked security forces around the world, including in Cyprus and Greece, to increase protection for Israeli tourists ahead of the High Holy Days.“We’ve identified a continuation of the Iranian global campaign to launch terror attacks on Israelis,” a defense source said at the time.In July, Cypriot police arrested a Swedish passport-holder of Lebanese descent who was allegedly tracking the movement of Israeli tourists on the island.Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu called the incident an “attempted terrorist attack by Hezbollah against an Israeli target in Cyprus.”He accused the Shi’ite group’s sponsor, Iran, of overall responsibility.Yaakov Lappin and Reuters contributed to this report.
