Single Occupation: Student Education: BA, Columbia College (NY), working on MA at Tel Aviv University Pets: 2 fish Religious affiliation / observance: Jewish/reform Last person / party I voted for: John Kerry Next person / party I will vote for: Another Democrat My history (100 words max): I grew up in Newton, MA, just outside of Boston. I attended Columbia College in New York, where I studied history and political science. After graduation in 2006 I moved to Israel (in the middle of the war) and began a Master's degree in Middle Eastern history at TAU. I love living in Israel, but I miss baseball and American football, as well as my family and friends Family history (100 words max): My mother was born in New York, her mother in New Jersey, and her father in Cleveland, Ohio. My mother's grandparents came from Lithuania. My father was born in New York, and his mother was born in New Jersey. His father was born in Ireland, and came to New York as a teenager. His mother's family is from Eastern Europe My connection with Israel: Intellectual, familial, spiritual. My great, great uncle was Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver. He was a Zionist leader in America, and gave the speech to the UN before they voted in support of an Israeli state. I feel proud every time I ride down "Rehov Abba Hillel" in Ramat Gan What I would take with me to a deserted island: My roommate, Blanca If I could have dinner with any person in the world it would be: Muhammad Which feminine/masculine trait would I like to have: Traits should not continue to be gendered. I want to be mentally strong. Period. What angers you: Lazy people who waste time What makes you happy: Working hard to reach my goals Last book I read was: Imperial Quest for Oil: Iraq, 1910-1928, by Helmut Mejcher Comfort food: Ice cream, nachos My life five years from now: Teaching Americans about the Middle East You may not like it but I have something controversial to say: You don't know anything about a place until you've been there.
