Fourteen political parties from Cyprus say they are united in their support for the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot leaders negotiating reunification of the divided Mediterranean island.
The island was split in 1974 when Turkey invaded after a coup by supporters of a union with Greece. The breakaway Turkish Cypriot state in the north is recognized only by Turkey.
President Dimitris Christofias, a Greek Cypriot, and Mehmet Ali Talat, the leader of the breakaway Turkish Cypriots, started talks in September, and they are expected to carry on well into 2009.
The parties representing both rival communities said in a statement after a meeting of their representatives in Bratislava they "expressed their full support" for the two.
