An Islamic insurgent group says the man believed to be the head of al-Qaida in Somalia has been killed in an airstrike along with eight other people. The spokesman for the Islamic Al-Shabab militia says the overnight strike killed Aden Hashi Ayro at his house in the central Somali town of Dusamareeb. Sheik Muqtar Robow says eight others were killed and six wounded on Thursday. Somali government officials say Ayro trained in Afghanistan before the Sept. 11 attacks and heads up al-Qaida's cell in Somalia. Resident Guled Ahmed says the strike was carried out by US forces but offered no evidence.
