A court has heard that an alleged terrorist plot to attack significant Canadian buildings was an unrealistic "jihadi fantasy" that was hidden from a young Canadian man on trial for his role in the purported conspiracy.
Defense lawyer Mitchell Chernovsky said in closing arguments Thursday that the prosecution had failed to prove the terror suspects participated in a real terrorist cell.
The man on trial cannot be named because he was a 17, a legal minor, at the time of his arrest.
The accused is one of 18 people arrested in 2006 in Ontario for allegedly plotting to attack Parliament buildings, behead politicians and truck-bomb nuclear power plants and police headquarters.
