French President Jacques Chirac warned Turkey on Friday to respect a deal with the European Union to open its ports and airports to Cyprus, or risk stalling its bid to join the European Union. "They have to respect their engagements," Chirac told reporters after an EU leaders summit. "Notably in the case of Cypriot merchandise arriving in their ports. If it doesn't, it will call into question its capacity to move forward toward the enlargement (of the EU)."
