India: 5 villagers and 1 policeman killed in clash

Angry villagers blocking a highway in northwestern India hurled stones at police, who opened fire on the crowd in a clash that left at least six people dead Tuesday, including one policeman, an official said.
Villagers surrounded police who tried to break up the protest, and the officers opened fire, killing five people, Gupta said. One policeman was slain in the ensuing melee.
