Two Israelis are set to be deported from India after police suspected them of "suspicious activities," Times of India reported Tuesday. The couple, Shneor Zalman and Yaffa Shenoi, will be questioned by Indian agencies before commencement of the deportation.According to the Times report, the young Israelis arrived in India on multiple-entry visas and rented a house in Fort Kochi. The city, a major tourism hub, is next to the Mattancherry neighborhood, famous for its "Jew Town"- a historical part of western India where Jews erected their first trading outposts in the 16th century. The country's oldest synagogues are located in Fort Kochi.Indian police suspected Israeli operations in the country following the Mumbai terror attacks of 2008, during which 164 people were killed. Among the targets, the terrorists targeted Mumbai's Chabad house , killing six Jews."Central intelligence got an alert about a covert operation being carried out by suspected Israeli agents after the 26/11 terror attacks... A communication was sent to all states (about the suspected Israeli operations)."Police began to suspect the young Israeli couple after they payed far higher than the market rate to rent a house, according to the Times report. After tapping their communication lines, local police say they discovered regular meetings with a group of people. "These meetings lasted for hours in the night. They were under close surveillance," according to the report.
