Indian police battle Islamic terrorists in New Delhi

Indian media reported Friday morning that police were battling suspected Islamic terrorists holed up in a house in New Delhi. The Press Trust of India news agency said the gunbattle was taking place in a southern part of the sprawling capital and that at least one of the terrorists had been killed. The agency said one policeman had been wounded. India's NDTV television news station showed dozens of police officers fanning out across the leafy Jamia Nagar neighborhood, and said officials believed there might be up to five terrorists in the house. Friday's gunbattle comes days after four coordinated bombings in New Delhi markets killed 21 people. Authorities believe the attack was the work of homegrown Islamic terrorists.
