Mexican Defense Department arrests leader of Tijuana-based drug cartel

The Mexican Defense Department on Sunday said it has arrested one of the leaders of the Tijuana-based Arellano Felix cartel wanted in the US. Soldiers arrested Eduardo Arellano Felix and his daughter on Friday night after a shootout in a middle-class Tijuana neighborhood, the Department said in a statement. The US State Department in 2003 offered $5 million for the capture of Arellano Felix. Mexican authorities said Arellano Felix and his sister Enedina Arellano Felix took over the drug clan's leadership after several of their brothers were arrested or killed.
