Muslim leader: British officials' terror tactics creating tensions

The head of Britain's largest Muslim umbrella organization has accused politicians of creating a climate of fear and warned they could create a society reminiscent of Nazi Germany, in an interview published Saturday. Muhammad Abdul Bari, secretary-general of the Muslim Council of Britain, told The Daily Telegraph that politicians were increasing tensions in society by spending a disproportionate time discussing Muslims. "Every society has to be really careful so that situation does not lead us to a time when people's minds can be poisoned as they were in the 1930s," he was quoted as saying. "If your community is perceived in a very negative manner, and poll after poll says that we are alienated, then Muslims begin to feel very vulnerable," he said. "We are seen as creating problems, not bringing anything, and that is not good for any society."
