The Philippine military says a C-130 transport aircraft carrying nine crew members has disappeared after takeoff in the country's south.
Lt. Col. Pedrito Cadungong said Monday night the aircraft took off shortly before midnight Monday in southern Davao city and lost contact with ground control within two minutes. He said search and rescue operation were launched.
He added that the aircraft was headed to central Iloilo city to pick up members of the Presidential Security Guard after Monday's visit by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
