Report: Plane crash in Rio de Janeiro upscale district kills 4

A small plane crashed near a busy avenue in one of Rio de Janeiro's most upscale neighborhoods on Sunday, killing all four people aboard, local media reported. The plane went down in a plot of land owned by a car dealership about a block from the Avenida das Americas, a main avenue in the posh Barra da Tijuca district, GloboNews TV reported. No one on the ground was reportedly injured, GloboNews said. Witnesses told authorities the single-engine plane had just taken off from the nearby Jacarepagua before it went down and exploded upon impact. The region where the accident happened is home to some of the city's top luxury condominiums.
