Rocket attack on Pakistan police station kills 1

Unidentified assailants fired a rocket at a police station in northwestern Pakistan Wednesday, killing one officer and wounding four, police said. The attack took place before dawn in the Matta area of Swat, an impoverished valley in North West Frontier Province, said Swat police official Javed Khan. Khan said several thousand followers of a pro-Taliban cleric had rallied in the area late Tuesday to protest police action against a radical mosque in the capital, Islamabad. However, he stopped short of blaming Islamic militants for the rocket attack and said authorities were still investigating.
