Russians packing up in western Georgia

Russian forces are on the move in western Georgia and appear to be preparing to withdraw from the area. An Associated Press television crew watched Russian soldiers pack belongings from a post near the breakaway Abkhazia region into trucks and take down the Russian flag early Saturday. Another Russian column of trucks and an armored personnel carrier rolled past on a road toward Abkhazia. Russia has maintained two dozen posts in Georgia beyond separatist Abkhazia and South Ossetia following last month's war. The Kremlin has promised to withdraw from some of its positions in western Georgia by Monday and the rest next month.
