A strong earthquake measuring magnitude 6.5 shook the southern Indian Ocean on Saturday, the Hong Kong Observatory said.
The quake struck at 0417 GMT and was centered about 2,200 kilometers southwest of Perth, Australia, the observatory said. No other information was immediately available.
