Police say a suicide bomber has killed one police officer and a civilian at a checkpoint in Pakistan's troubled northwest. The attack follows signs that peace talks initiated by Pakistan's new government have snagged. Militants are demanding that the army withdraw from their strongholds along the Afghan border. Mohammed Khan is a police official in the regional capital, Peshawar. Khan said the bomber struck a checkpoint on the edge of the military district in the town of Bannu on Tuesday morning. Khan said another five people were wounded in the blast
