US says anti-missile agreement in interests of Poland and US

The United States on Monday expressed confidence it would settle an anti-missile agreement with Poland, despite the Polish prime minister saying his country should not rush a decision on accepting a US missile defense base. "This is in both of our interests," US State Department spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters. "It's in the interests of Poland. It's in the interest of the United States. It's in the interest of other European countries." Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk's comments underlining greater skepticism toward the missile defense project appeared in an interview published Monday in the Polish edition of Newsweek. McCormack said the Polish defense minister was scheduled to visit Washington later this month. "We are going to negotiate and talk about this issue in good faith to address all of the government of Poland's concerns," he said.
