US says it is taking al-Qaida threat seriously

The United States takes seriously reports that an al-Qaida-related group is threatening efforts to violently disrupt oil flows to the United States, the State Department said Thursday. "You have to take these sorts of threats seriously," spokesman Sean McCormack said, alluding to the threats by a Saudi terrorist group. The policy is to investigate such threats and "then you see based on your investigation of the facts what it is that you need to do," McCormack said. He said he was unable to assess the validity of the threat.
