Iran holds aviation exhibition

Iran's official news agency says the country has opened an international aviation fair on the Persian Gulf island of Kish. Tuesday's report by IRNA says more than 20 foreign companies or their domestic representatives and local companies are participating in the four-day exhibition. The agency says the companies are from countries including Britain, Germany, France, Russia, China and Poland - but it didn't give their names. The report quotes Karim Aghai, the director of Kish airport. He says about 80 light and ultra-light planes are on display. This is the fourth exhibition since 2002 by Iran to attain know-how, equipment and spare parts for its aging passenger fleet. US sanctions ban the export of advanced technology to Iran.
