Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu left early Sunday for Chad, marking the renewal of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
As he prepared to board the plane, the prime minister said that both Iran and the Palestinians were furious about his traveling to the Muslim-majority country. He described the trip as historic.
“This visit to Chad is a historic breakthrough,” said Netanyahu. “This is part of the revolution taking place in the Arab and Muslim world. It is very disturbing and even incites Iran and the Palestinians. They tried to prevent this visit but were unsuccessful.”
Netanyahu said there would be additional visits to Muslim countries, though he did not specify when or to which countries.
