A 44-year-old man and a 21-year-old IDF soldier were killed in a head-on collision between two cars in the early hours of Thursday morning on Route 444, between the Elad and Rantis junctions near Rosh Ha'ayin. The vehicles burst into flames as a result of the crash and rescue services pronounced the drivers dead at the scene. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and cut open the cars in order to extract the two victims. Police initially had difficulty identifying the charred bodies. On Tuesday, Simha Waknin, a 50-year-old woman traveling to Jerusalem's Shaare Tzedek Hospital with her daughter-in-law, who was in labor, was killed in a collision between two cars in the capital's Ramot neighborhood. Her daughter-in-law was lightly hurt and gave birth to a healthy baby shortly after the crash.
