The carnage on Israel's roads continued Sunday night as two pedestrians lost their lives in separated car accidents. First, a woman was killed when she was hit by a car on Route 33, near Mesilat Zion. A Magen David Adom team pronounced her dead at the scene. Police were investigating the incident and urged eyewitnesses to come forward. Moments later, a man in his 60s was killed in a hit-and-run on the Route 2 highway near Hadera, at the Olga Interchange. The man was hit by a Hyundai after a second car hit it from behind, pushing it forward. The Hyundai then sped away from the scene. The driver of the second car has been arrested and police were searching for the Hyundai. Also Sunday, the Tel Aviv District Court extended the custody of Shai Simon, 27, of Ramat Gan, by five days after police said he was one of the two suspects involved in a lethal hit-and-run accident in the early hours of Saturday morning in Tel Aviv that killed Meital Aharonson, 27, of Herzliya.
