20-year-old killed in paragliding accident

20-year-old hurled by strong wind, slams into house in Kibbutz Sdot Yam; dies in hospital from injuries.

A 20-year-old parachute-glider was killed Tuesday afternoon when he crashed into the roof of a house in Kibbutz Sdot Yam, south of Caesarea. The man was evacuated to Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera by MDA paramedics in serious condition. Doctors there pronounced him dead. According to eyewitnesses, the surfer was caught by a side-wind which hurled him some 200 meters. He was then dragged by the chute until he hit the house on the shoreline, finally hanging from the chute ropes on the side of the house. The man was taken to the hospital after paramedics managed to stabilize his condition but he was suffering from multiple serious injuries including to the head and chest.
