3 pedestrians killed as car overturns in Western Galilee

Dr. Nizar Toma, 46, Josephine Toma, 40, and Nazereth judge Nazrine Kareini, 44, die after being hit by 19-year-old driver with no license.

Three pedestrians died overnight Wednesday after a car swerved off the road and overturned in Kfar Yasif in the Western Galilee.
The three were identified as Dr. Nizar Toma, 46, brother of head of Kfar Yasif's council, his wife, Josephine, 44, and Nazrine Kareini, 44, a judge at the Nazareth Court for Family Affairs.

They apparently tried to cross Route 70 after leaving a restaurant, when they were hit by a car who strayed into the oncoming lane, flipped over and struck them, Israel Radio reported.
Four of the passengers in the vehicle were injured, two of them seriously and two lightly.
Police said they were questioning the driver, a resident of Kfar Yarka, 19, who may have being driving without a valid license.
Magen David Adom crews pronounced all three pedestrians dead at the scene, while the injured passengers were taken to a hospital in Nahariya and Haifa's Rambam Hospital.
