34-year-old shot dead in Taibe

Incident likely related to violent dispute between crime families.

A 34-year-old man was shot dead as he sat in a vehicle in Taibe on Saturday afternoon.
Magen David Adom paramedics found the dead man in the car with a number of gunshot wounds.
The homicide victim has been named as Amjad Telat Haj Yahi. A murder investigation has been launched by officers from Central District Central Unit.
Taibe has been the scene of an ongoing violent dispute between two rival crime families.
In an additional incident in Netanya on Friday evening, three shots were fired at a cousin of underworld figures Felix and Charlie Abutbul in a failed assassination attempt. The targeted man, Mark Tevel, had been involved in fight on a Netanya beach on Friday morning, and police believe the shooting to be related to that  incident.
The shots were fired as Tevel was walking down a Netanya street on Friday evening. The gunmen missed Tevel and he escaped without injuries.
Also on Friday night, a 17-year-old youth was moderately injured after being stabbed by a gang in Bnei Brak. The stab victim was rushed to the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer.
The stab victim told police he was assaulted for no apparent cause while walking in the street.
Meanwhile a man in his early 20s was found lying on the sidewalk on Tel Aviv's Allenby Street with serious facial wounds. He was evacauted to the Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv in serious condition.
In a separate incident, a Chinese foreign worker was moderately wounded in Herzliya after being attacked by two youths. He was taken to the Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba for medical treatment. Police arrested two suspects, aged 16 and 19, for the assault.
