Amos Gilad: No immediate plans for large-scale Gaza operation

There are no plans at the moment for a large-scale military operation in the Gaza Strip, the Defense Ministry's diplomatic-military bureau chief, Amos Gilad, said Sunday. "Our current policy is to try and preserve the truce because we don't currently have an interest in invading Gaza, which would be a massive operation from many perspectives," Gilad told Army Radio. "The likelihood of reestablishing the truce at the moment is high," he said, stressing that the IDF would remain prepared for an escalation in violence. In addition, Gilad called reports that regarding fortification for Gaza belt homes, Defense Minister Ehud Barak was giving preferential treatment to communities that back Labor "crazy nonsense."
