Light aircraft crashes near Rehovot

2 killed; rescue teams trying to remove bodies from the wreckage.

Eli Elazar Moshe, 43 from Azur, and Yithak Horn, 53 from Holon, were killed Saturday evening in an ultra-light plane crash outside Kibbutz Shiller near Rehovot.
The crash took place shortly after 7 p.m. in an open field near the Kibbutz.
The pilot and a passenger were pronounced dead by Magen David Adom paramedics at the scene.
Rescue teams from Rehovot successfully removed the two bodies from the wreckage.
 
Flight investigators from the Civilian Aviation Authority and the Transportation Ministry are currently on the scene trying to piece together the circumstances of the crash, and are trying to determine whether the crash was caused by technical malfunctions or human error.
According to initial evaluations the crash was caused by a technical fault.
Last November, four people were killed in a similar incident in a civilian Robinson helicopter crash.
