2 terrorists killed on Gaza border

Infiltrators shot dead in exchange of fire with IDF soldiers.

Two would-be Palestinian terrorists were killed on the Gaza border on Tuesday morning as the IDF foiled an infiltration attempt. No casualties were reported among the troops.
Earlier Tuesday, soldiers spotted the two suspects attempting to cross the border fence, successfully chased them down and fatally shot them.

"Two Palestinian terrorists were identified infiltrating into Israelfrom the southern Gaza Strip earlier this morning. The soldiers on thescene exchanged fire with the terrorists, killing them both," the IDFSpokesperson said of the event in a statement released later in theday.
"The IDF remains committed to protectingthe citizens of Israel and will continue to act against terrorism. TheIDF holds Hamas solely responsible for terror emanating from the GazaStrip," said the statement.
As a result of theincident, four settlements near the border fence were closed, as wellas Route 232. Residents of the settlements were asked to stay in theirhomes, and children were held back from school.
The infiltration followed Monday's IDF raidof the "Free Gaza" flotilla which was carrying humanitarianaid to the Gaza Strip, killing nine passengers and wounding dozens.
