An 80-year-old woman was beaten and robbed Tuesday night in her Netanya apartment by two men. The men apparently broke into her apartment in the early morning, tied her up and took NIS 2,000. She was taken to hospital and reported to be lightly wounded. On Tuesday, a 90-year-old woman was found on the street outside her Holon home, apparently after she was beaten and robbed. A 70-year-old-man died in Jerusalem on Monday after his mouth was sealed with duct tape during a robbery. Police were unsure as to whether the man had suffocated or suffered a heart attack or stroke. Speaking at the cabinet meeting Wednesday, Internal Security Minister Dichter said he was "personally taking note" of every attack on the elderly. "People who attack senior citizens have no regard for human life", said Dichter. Dichter also noted that there had been a seven percent rise in attacks on senior citizens in Israel in 2007.
