Bill to suspend convicted MKs passes 1st reading

The Knesset's Legislative Committee approved a bill on its first reading on Tuesday that would require the suspension of any MK convicted of a crime that carries moral turpitude. The bill was proposed by MKs Shelly Yacimovich and Gilad Erdan. The purpose of the bill is to prevent a situation where an MK convicted of a crime that carries moral turpitude would continue to serve until his final ruling in an appeal.
