Driver accused of sparking off Acre riots released to 1 week's house arrest

Jamal Taufik, the driver who entered Jewish east Acre on the evening of Yom Kippur and is blamed by police for sparking several nights of rioting, was released to house arrest on Wednesday. Taufik, 48, was arrested Monday on suspicion of reckless driving, endangering lives and offending religious sensibilities. His driving license was confiscated for 30 days.
