Education Ministry to subsidize trips to Poland

The Education Ministry said Sunday that it would subsidize 11 percent of educational trips to Poland between February and May 2008. The cost of the trip, after a new tender was offered, would be maximally NIS 3, 830 plus $480 for the flight per student. The trip would now cost between NIS 1,200 to 1,500 more, which the ministry said was due to several factors. The main factor was the higher prices in Poland. However, the cost would also include preparations beforehand, a doctor on every trip and kosher food for everyone which added around another NIS 500. The ministry said it would still be providing additional subsidies to students from lower socio-economic brackets who could otherwise not afford to go.
