Former Shin Bet man allegedly sold stolen gas canisters to Gazans

A former member of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) is suspected of having sold stolen gas canisters to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. On Wednesday an enforcement unit of the National Infrastructures Ministry confiscated over 1700 gas canisters, about 100 tons, from a warehouse south of Ashkelon. Acting on intelligence received, the unit entered the warehouse and discovered the canisters, which were believed to have been stolen. Authorities suspect that the Shin Bet man bought the stolen canisters from an Israeli Arab in the north of the country. On Thursday 200 more canisters were found in the north. The ministry has pointed out that the warehouse was a serious risk for an enormous explosion with that many canisters right next to a facility of the Eilat-Ashkelon pipeline.
