An IAF air strike in northern Gaza killed a Hamas man who approached the fence early Tuesday, Hamas said. The army said it identified two armed men planting an explosive device and opened fire on them. Palestinian medical officials said they evacuated a 22-year-old man with multiple shrapnel wounds. Hamas identified the man as Fadi Assaf, one of its members. Meanwhile, in the southern Gaza Strip, the army said it shot and killed a man crawling toward the border. Family members of 55-year-old Mustafa al-Sufi said he was shot from an army watch tower. Later Tuesday morning, a Kassam rocket fired from the northern Gaza Strip landed in the western Negev. No casualties or damage were reported. Overnight Monday, three Palestinian fugitives were arrested by IDF troops operating in the West Bank, the army said. One suspect was apprehended near Nablus and the other two were arrested near Kalkilya. On Monday, four Palestinians were killed in two IDF strikes in the Gaza Strip. The IAF said it targeted rocket launching squads in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanun. According to Palestinian sources, at least two operatives were killed and three other Palestinians were wounded. In another incident, two Palestinian gunmen were killed near the Erez crossing after they attempted to lay explosive devices in the area. Yaakov Katz contributed to this report.
