J'lem Municipality mulls naming street after Oslo critic Adir Zil

The Jerusalem Municipality Names Committee is scheduled to decide over a proposal to name one of the city's streets after deceased right-wing activist Adir Zil, Army Radio reported on Thursday. Zik, who died from cancer three years ago, was one of the founders of the Givat Hamivhar neighborhood in the capital and a radio broadcaster for Arutz Sheva. Zik, who openly opposed the Oslo Accords, labeled former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin and President Shimon Peres, "traitors who were bought out by money," shortly after Rabin's assassination. The municipality will choose from 30 names, including Zik's and former Egyptian president Anwar Sadat.
