Lipkin-Shahak: IAF alone can win Lebanon campaign

Former chief of staff Lt.-Gen. Amnon Lipkin-Shahak stated on Saturday that the entire campaign could be completed without a ground incursion into Lebanon. He told Channel 10 that the air force could reach places that ground forces could not, though assessed that if troops would have to be deployed temporarily in Lebanon, then that is what the IDF would do. Lipkin-Shahak, when asked to compare to the Peace in the Galilee campaign in 1982, stated that the IAF's capabilities today were several times better than during the Lebanon War.
