The Maccabi Health Fund announced that it would fund a new use of the cancer drug Herceptin for breast cancer patients.
While Herceptin as a treatment for malignancies is included in the health basket, use of the drug as a preventative measure - at a cost of NIS 150-200,000 a year - has up to now not been authorized by any health fund.
