Majority of Supreme Court justices don't support overturning Katsav plea

Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch has failed to enlist a majority of Supreme Court justices to back nullifying a plea-bargain that was offered to former President Moshe Katsav, Channel 10 reported on Sunday. On June 28, the state announced that it had decided to close the file regarding Beit Hanassi Aleph, and charge Katsav with committing indecent acts without consent, and not rape. Following the decision, the High Court of Justice held hearings on six petitions calling on the court to cancel the plea bargain and the decision to close the file. Since then, Beinisch had worked to convince her colleagues to support overturning the plea-bargain. However, according to the Channel 10 report, only two out of five justices currently support the measure.
