Mofaz says no economic blockade on Palestinians

Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz said Saturday that Israel wouldn't impose an economic blockade on the Gaza Strip, despite dissatisfaction with security arrangements at the border crossing between the coastal strip and Egypt. Mofaz told Israel Radio that the Israeli government didn't plan to strangle Gaza economically. "There is no intention to impose a blockade on the Palestinians," he said. On Friday, Israel threatened to restrict trade across its frontier with Gaza if Israel's security concerns at the newly reopened Rafah border crossing weren't addressed within two days.
