Sixty percent of construction waste was either recycled or put in registered landfills in 2007, the Environmental Protection Ministry said Monday. The
ministry said that represented a significant jump from previous years.
700,000 tons were recycled, up from 300,000 in 2006. However, that number still only represents 20% of all building waste.
1,400,000 tons were safely buried in proper landfills out of a total of 3,500,000 tons produced in Israel annually.
