PA minister: No compromise on Jerusalem elections

Palestinian Deputy Prime Minister Nabil Shaath said that Palestinians would not agree to any compromise on the issue of Palestinian elections in east Jerusalem. He emphasized that the Palestinian Authority would insist that the elections would take place on Salah a-Din Street near the Old City, and not just in the villages around the capital, according to Israel Radio. In an interview to the authority's newspaper al-Ayyam, Shaath said that the parliamentary elections would be delayed if all the Palestinian factions agree to do so or if the Israeli government chooses to prevent the elections from taking place in Jerusalem.
