Police arrested five people on Sunday night under suspicion that they were on their way to kill underworld figure Assi Aboutbul.
They were apprehended by the International Crimes Investigation Unit of the Israel Police. The five were expected to be brought to a remand hearing at the Petah Tikva Magistrate Court on Monday morning.
Assi Aboutbul was the target of another assassination attempt that occurred about a month ago when a rocket was launched at a car in which he was sitting, Army Radio reported.
