Police committee: Kidnapped policewoman did not act correctly

The police officer who was kidnapped by a criminal three weeks ago did not handle the situation correctly, a police commission that examined the incident said in a report it issued to Police Commissioner Dudi Cohen Sunday. Other officers at the Ashdod Police Station were also criticized for mismanaging the incident, but they were commended for exhausting every option of negotiating with the kidnapper in order to avoid risking the kidnapped policewoman's life. Police officers who arrived at the Lod interchange during the incident and blocked the road were also commended for acting correctly in view of the immediate threat to the kidnapped officer and other civilians. The committee consisted of eight senior officers with vast field experience. Their work included reconstructing the event in situ, including reworking the incident's development and the decisions taken by the officers who were present at the incident.
